Plus, find out when you can shop the 90s-inspired range.
In case you missed the memo, 90s makeup is back baby, which means it's no real surprise that beauty queen Kim Kardashian is getting in on the trend. Taking to Instagram this morning, Kim revealed a new collection is coming to her KKW Beauty line and, we're calling it now, this one's going to be a best-seller.
Called the Mattes Collection, the new range actually consists of two separate lines – Matte Smoke and Matte Cocoa. Each collection features all your favourite beauty staples in a range of 90s inspired hues to help you create some ultra glam looks. You won't have to wait long to get your hands on them either, with the two lines set to drop at noon (US time) on 16 August exclusively from the KKW Beauty site. We recommend setting some cash aside now.
What's in the collection?
The Matte Smoke and Matte Cocoa collections each consist of a 10-shade eyeshadow palette, 3 lipsticks and 3 lip liners. The Matte Cocoa collection also includes two eyeliners and the Matte Smoke line includes three.
As the names suggest, each collection plays around with a different range of shades. The Matte Cocoa line is a throwback to the stripped back nature of the 90s and features an array of nude and brown tones that are absolutely perfect for creating natural, daytime looks. The Matte Smoke line meanwhile plays with glam night-time shades like smokey nudes, browns and greys.
First up, the eyeshadow palettes from both lines feature all-matte shades that give off a creamy, powdery finish. You can see the shade ranges below.
Matte Cocoa palette:
- Cream – Warm buttercream
- Sandstone – Soft cantaloupe
- Desert – Soft ginger/brown
- Honey – Soft warm caramel
- Tawny – Warm cinnamon
- Bamboo – Soft wheat brown
- Sienna – Sepia brown
- Cocoa – Mocha brown
- Bourbon – Mahogany brown
- Wood – Deep hickory brown
Matte Smoke palette:
- Porcelain – Off white
- Stucco – Pale beige
- Sand – Neutral mid-tone brown
- Granite – Dusky taupe
- Clay – Warm camel brown
- Umber – Deep chocolate brown
- Graphite – Deep ash brown
- Stone – Smokey grey
- Onyx – Black
- Navy – Navy
As gorgeous as the eyeshadow palettes are, it's actually the lipsticks from the two lines that have us excited. The new matte lipsticks have been formulated with mattifying powders, meaning that they'll be super velvety without being drying. According to the KKW Beauty website, the lipsticks also "lay down full coverage in one swipe", which will make getting ready for a night out a total breeze.
The Matte Cocoa collection includes three shades of the matte lipstick in 90's Chic (warm reddish brown), 90's Glam (warm mid-tone honey/nude) and 90's Style (warm beige/peach). The Matte Smoke line meanwhile sees the hues 90's Runway (peach), 90's Supermodel (warm pinky nude) and 90's Icon (warm rosy nude). You can check them out below.
To complement the lipstick shades, there are also six matte lip liners up for grabs in the same shades as their lipstick counterparts, making it incredibly simple to perfect your pout.
Rounding out the collection, six intensely pigmented eyeliners arrive in two shades of Brown and Nude for the Matte Cocoa collection and three hues of Black, Navy and White for the Matte Smoke collection. The long-wearing pencils feature soft tips that we imagine will make for a super smooth application to help you create that perfect smoked-out 90s look.
Excited yet? We know we are and so, apparently, are a lot of other beauty fans. The announcement for the Matte Collection was met with a huge amount of hype, so be prepared to battle it out online to add everything to cart before it sells out.
