The long weekend is just around the corner (10-12 June). If you’ve made the split decision to take off somewhere for the three day break, rest assured you won’t have to fork out for last-minute plans.
Public holidays are notorious for bringing prices to a peak but we’re bucking the trend and have scouted out some travel deals for this weekend that you can still book at a bargain price.
True, you might have to tweak your weekend plans a little, leaving on Thursday instead of Friday for example, but you’ll still be able to get that break in without hurting your bank account too much.
All prices and availability mentioned are current as at the time of publishing.
Up to $100 off: Domestic stays

This deal is valid on stays anywhere in Australia, any time, all you need to do is enter this coupon code when booking to get your discount.

$827: Flights + three nights in Cairns
For something a little more local, Cairns is the way to go. Not only is the weather still warm up north sitting around the mid-20s, but again, Expedia has a stack of Cairns based holiday packages on sale for the long weekend.
For example, you can get flights from Sydney plus three nights in the 5-star Hotel Cairns for $827 per person departing on Friday and returning Monday.
For cheaper deals, you can opt to fly out on Saturday and return Tuesday.
$82 per day: Car hire + extras with Europcar
The first snowfall of the season has already hit the mountains and with numerous Aussie ski resorts offering opening week specials, bargain hunters will do well eyeing a long-weekend snow trip.
To help you get there, Europcar has a snow package that includes vehicle hire, a snow chain voucher, snow cover and additional driver starting from $82 a day on 2+ day hires. It’s valid from 1 June to 31 October, so even if you don’t make it this long weekend, you have the October weekend to make the most of it, too.
$199: One-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Sydney
Whether you’re hitting up Sydney to check out the lights of Vivid or are in the market for a staycation in the heart of the city, the Hyatt Regency has rooms available over the long weekend for you to put your feet up.
Book through Scoopon to pay only $199 for a Harbour View King Room for two or stay longer with a room upgrade. Saturday night unfortunately is sold out, but there are still rooms available on Sunday and Monday nights.
Rent your car with Budget and get your third weekend day free
Road trips are an easy last-minute option that don’t require too much pre-planning aside from car hire, accommodation and a destination. Until 30 June, Budget car hire is offering three days for the price of two on hires when you book for three consecutive days. So you can book that long weekend trip for the price of a weekend.
Pre-bookings are required, so check out our June Weekend Getaways Guide if you’re strapped for inspiration on where you can go and start planning.
