Jetstar sale: Say bula in Fiji from $481 return
Take heart, there's sunshine around this corner.
Flights depart from all across Australia, though the cheapest takes off from Sydney in February 2019. This is one of the cheapest times to visit the island as it is wet season. On the upside, the city of Nadi, which is where you'll fly into, doesn't receive as much rainfall as the rest of the main island of Viti Levu so you won't be hit with the worst of it when you arrive.
The cost of flights from other cities rises dramatically after this, starting at $559 from Adelaide, $575 from Brisbane and $609 from Melbourne. This price-rise isn't unjustified as they're all operated by full service airlines such as Fiji Airways and Qantas. These fares include in-flight meals, entertainment and checked luggage where Jetstar does not.
They're also for more preferable flight dates including November, which is the end of dry season. At around $100 more return it could mean all the difference for that perfect beach getaway.
And if you're curious about best-weather flights from Sydney, we'd recommend spending the extra $57 for November flights. These start from $538 return on a combination of Qantas and Jetstar flights. If you'd prefer to fly full-service all the way, you can also catch Qantas flights in September (dry season) from $565 return.

How good are these fares?
- Price: Great. Flights to Fiji under $500 return are always a winner. You won't typically get fares this low on a full-service carrier though you can expect the cheapest full-service flights to range from $500-600.
- Airline: Jetstar is a budget airline and its fares only include the seat. Other airlines like Qantas and Fiji Airways (which you can also fly on for cheap at the moment) include luxuries such as checked luggage and meals, and could wind up costing less in the long run if you require those.
- Travel time: Great. Jetstar flights to Fiji are direct.
- Weather: Poor. The cheapest fares on sale are for wet season. Our advice? Pay the extra $57 for better weather conditions.
