Take off on a last minute getaway or explore late in the year.

The Olympic Games in Japan is just two years away which means if you're keen to visit before the hordes descend, you're running out of time to get there.

Luckily, both Tokyo and Osaka are on sale in Jetstar's Book It Now sale so you can fit in a last-minute vacation if you need to get away or plan ahead and get there in autumn, one of the best times to visit Japan.

Flights are as low as $367 each way which will get you from Cairns to Tokyo.

You can also find discounted one-way fares from Gold Coast to Tokyo from $513 and Cairns to Osaka from $385.

Travel is for select dates from 8 July to 30 July, 3 September to 5 December and 16 January to 12 March 2019.

Flights are on sale at these prices now until 11 June through Flight Centre. Check out our list of dates and routes below or head straight to Flight Centre here to book your trip.

How good are these fares?

These fares don't beat Jetstar's Return for Free sale where you could nab return flights from Cairns to Tokyo for $306 return.

When compared to other airlines, though, these sale fares will still save you hundreds on return flights. Looking at Skyscanner, your next cheapest option would be with Cathay Pacific for over $800.
