Jetstar and Qantas have both dropped NSW/VIC sales to coincide with the Victorian government's plan to open up borders for fully vaccinated people from 5 November 2021.
"As Victoria and New South Wales approach the 80 per cent double vaccination target, and travel between the two states looks set to reopen, we know there will be many people wanting to plan a well-earned holiday or visit loved ones," said Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans.
Jetstar's 24-hour flash sale starts from $20 one way for:
- Melbourne to Sydney from $20 one way
- Melbourne to Newcastle from $20 one way
- Melbourne to Byron Bay from $20 one way
- Melbourne (Avalon) to Sydney from $20 one way
Qantas' "Together Again" sale will run for 5 days and includes fares from $99 one way between Sydney and Melbourne.
As well as sale fares for:
- Melbourne to Newcastle from $119 one way
- Melbourne to Coffs Harbour from $129 one way
- Melbourne to Merimbula from $119 one way
- Bendigo to Sydney from $119 one way
- Mildura to Sydney from $129 one way
Qantas' new direct flights to Byron Bay from Melbourne will operate 3 days a week and goes on sale from 21 September 2021.
Flights in these sales are taking off between 5 November and mid-December 2021 with Jetstar and Qantas with selected dates between January and March 2022 on some Qantas routes.

How good are these Jetstar/Qantas sale fares?
At just $20 a pop these Jetstar flights are about as cheap as they come.
If you've claimed (or are yet to claim) your vaccination reward from Qantas you just might enjoy the $20 flight for free considering Qantas is giving vaccinated Aussies the choice of a $20 Jetstar or Qantas voucher.
Jetstar's prices are the lowest on the Sydney-Melbourne route for the November period beating Virgin Australia's price from $62 one way by 67% (as compared on KAYAK).
In regards to Qantas, a $99 flight is as cheap as a fare from the flying kangaroo gets.
While Qantas' price on the Sydney-Melbourne route for November is 37% more expensive you do get refreshments, checked luggage and seat selection included in your airfare. If you choose to redeem your vaccination reward for a $20 Qantas voucher you'll narrow the gap between a Virgin fare to 21%.
This Jetstar flash sale ends 5:00pm AEST Tuesday 21 September 2021 while Qantas' "Together Again" sale ends 11:59pm AEST 24 September 2021, both unless sold out prior.
