From today, both JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys will accept major buy now pay later services Afterpay and Zip.

Offering shoppers the ability to split the cost of their purchases into instalments, buy now pay later (BNPL) services have taken the world by storm in recent years.

Despite the growing list of stores offering major services Afterpay and Zip though, entertainment retailer JB Hi-Fi has remained notably absent.

While the store has offered LatitudePay for some time, the store's decision not to take advantage of the demand for more popular services has left customers scratching their heads.

In response to this, the JB Hi-Fi Group has announced that both JB Hi-Fi and recent acquisition The Good Guys will now be accepting Afterpay and Zip in-store and online.

Similar to other retailers offering the services, online customers will be able to select their chosen BNPL service for orders of between $20 and $1,000 when they go to check out.

Customers who use Afterpay will be able to split their purchase over four equal fortnightly payments and will not pay interest if they pay on time.

Those looking to shop in store will also be able to take advantage of the newly launched Afterpay card to easily access the service.

Customers using Zip can choose their own payment schedule and opt to pay on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. The service is also interest-free for those who pay on their scheduled days.

Both Afterpay and Zip can be used for all purchases within the payment limit, with the exception of JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards and digital products such as Microsoft 365 or PlayStation store credits.

In a press release, EVP of sales ANZ and global instore at Afterpay Rachel Kelly said, "We are delighted to welcome the JB Hi-Fi group, with two of Australia's most iconic retail brands, to Afterpay."

"Afterpay customers will be thrilled to be able to buy big-ticket items such as electronics, white goods, appliances and home entertainment in a responsible manner, without incurring interest or fees."
