Explore more of Japan with flights to five other cities besides well-loved Tokyo.

The 5-star airline, Cathay Pacific is offering sale fares to six cities around Japan to help Aussies explore beyond Tokyo. On top of Japan's capital you can visit Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo and Okinawa enabling you to explore more exotic temples, Shinto shrines, waterfalls and volcano craters. Suffice to say, Japan has so much more to offer the willing tourist if you venture outside of the main cities.

At its cheapest, you can fly from Perth to Sapporo for $803 return in this sale. Other top fares of note include: Sydney-Fukuoka for $851, Melbourne-Nagoya for $853 and Brisbane-Sapporo for $851.

All fares are for round-trip and include all meals onboard and 30kg of checked baggage.

Flights are for travel between 16 April and 31 October 2018 and are available to book until midnight 19 January unless sold out.

Check out the prices below and head over to Cathay Pacific’s website to pick out your best travel dates and book a seat.

How good are these fares?

We're not going to lie to you, these are not the cheapest flights we've seen to Japan. You can often find sale fares with budget carriers like Jetstar for under $400 return and we've seen fares with fellow full-service carrier Qantas as low as $599 return.

Compared to full-priced fares through Cathay Pacific though, you’re saving almost $200.

The good news about these fares is that they allow you to travel during some of Japan's best weather and you get a choice of six cities to fly in to. So, if you've been there, done that with cities like Tokyo, you can try something new and experience a totally different culture.

The best time to visit Japan is in March and May or September to October where you get to explore the country in cool, dry weather without all the crowds.
