Beauty product of the week: Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain
The perfect product for that "no-makeup" makeup look.
Why we love this product
Anyone who knows me is very well aware that I'm a huge fan of the "no-makeup" makeup look. In fact, most of my evenings (and a lot of my money) are dedicated to scrubs, masks and serums in an attempt to make my skin nice enough not to need any makeup at all. There are tonnes of products on the market that can help you fake that naturally pretty look on camera, but in real life, nothing compares to real, glowing skin. After I had my lashes lifted, I've even ditched mascara.
But there is one product that has snaked its way into my everyday beauty routine. I discovered it in the Wanderess Beauty subscription beauty boxes. It's the Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain in Forever Red and I'm completely obsessed.
If you're unfamiliar, Jane Iredale is a cruelty-free beauty brand that creates products designed to nourish skin, not just cover it up. And this is why I was initially drawn to this product – makeup that acts like skincare? I'm sold.
This product looks a bit like a lipstick and has the consistency of a non-sticky lip balm. I use two dots on the apples of my cheeks, one just below my cheekbones and then blend it all in with my fingers. The product melts into your skin and gives a subtle and even finish. The finish is so seamless that it gives absolutely no suggestion that you've got anything on your skin at all – you just look naturally flushed.
I also occasionally use it on my lips too. It really is a true stain, providing a big pop of colour on the lips. But the formula is sheer so the natural look and tone of your lips shine through. I should note that although the colour is called Forever Red, it's actually more of a rich coral kind of colour.
This cheek stain is officially the only beauty product I use day-to-day and I love the way it makes me feel a little more put-together without having to pile on a tonne of products.
Okay, so this product isn't cheap but it is really, really nice. If you're in the market for a natural looking stain like this, I think it's worth the $58.
