Beauty product of the week: Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette
Finally, we got a chance to try one of the most buzzed about makeup products of the year. Spoiler alert: it didn't disappoint.
Why we love this product
Jaclyn Hill's Morphe Palette basically sells out in less than a day every time it's restocked, so it's been a bit tricky for us down in Australia to get our hands on one. But as luck would have it, we managed to catch a restock a few weeks ago.
When the palette arrived, it was like Christmas. There are just so many colours. Opening the palette in the office caused a flock of ladies to converge around my desk to ooh and aah over the range of amazing shades.
Desperate to try out the colours, I decided it was time again to attack my poor sub-editor Sofia with makeup brushes. She has the perfect bone structure to be a makeup canvas so she often has to deal with me experimenting with new makeup.
We went for a sparkly pink and red-purple smoky eye and it looked pretty gorgeous if I do say so myself. The shades are so blendable that you can blend them out with just your finger if you don't have the proper brushes (although I do recommend you invest in the proper tools). These are the types of shadows that are easy enough for anyone to use, even if you're new to makeup.
The colour selection has clearly been extremely well planned. I had every single colour I needed to build up and create the exact look I had envisioned. And that's rare for me. I normally have three or four palettes open and have to constantly mix and change to get the look I want. I could throw out every single other eyeshadow I have right now and just use this palette, and I really wouldn't be missing anything.
I love this palette and so does everyone else on the Internet. And that's probably why it's so hard to get your hands on one.
Affordability
I have mixed opinions on this. If you're buying on the Morphe website, the unavoidable shipping cost is US$27 and the actual palette is US$38, which in total is around US$80. This is a lot of money to spend, but considering what you get, I think it's good value.
I bought an Urban Decay Naked Heat palette from Mecca, which was $83 and has 12 shades. The Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette, on the other hand, has 35 shades. So it really is worth your money.
Where you can get it
This palette is available on the Morphe website when it's in stock. Alternatively, sites such as MakeupNet and DiscountBeautyBoutique also stock Morphe.
