Think of all the money you'll save on shipping fees.
Mega US fashion labels J.Crew and Madewell have always proved something of a challenge for Aussie fashionistas to get their hands on. Now, that's all about to change with upmarket department store David Jones announcing that it will be stocking both labels from next month.
In a press release, the company said that 11 David Jones stores will house the brands, with dedicated Madewell and J.Crew assistants helping customers out with all their fashion needs. As part of the deal, David Jones will also become the sole Australian stockist of both brands for a minimum of six months, blocking both THE ICONIC and the international.com website from continuing to carry either label.
With David Jones' reputation for quality service and designer brands though, it is a pretty ideal place to house the US labels. The movement from online stores like THE ICONIC to a department store is also great news for Australian customers, who will now be able to try before they buy for the first time.

David Jones' general manager of menswear, Chris Wilson, said that J.Crew and Madewell are "a natural fit" for the company, which greatly enjoys brand exclusivity. He has also said that David Jones has worked hard with J.Crew's Australian distributor, True Alliance, to ensure that Australian customers won't pay any more than they would shopping the brand overseas.
"The physical and online presence means the customers do a lot of research, and you have to make sure you're legitimate," Wilson said. "You learn a lot when you watch the market. We see this as a long term brand in our portfolio."
While David Jones has not announced an exact release date for the labels, the store is set to preview its summer range on 8 August in Sydney, making it pretty likely that J.Crew and Madewell will be a part of the collection.
