IRIS is the native utility token of the IRIS Network. This network is essentially a blockchain framework that allows interaction between various blockchains and the applications built on them. The blockchain is called the IRIS Hub. It's built using the Cosmos project’s technology. In addition to supporting token transfers across blockchains, it also allows resource computation and data consumption from different systems. The blockchain uses a Bonded Proof of Stake (BPoS) consensus model, which is a variation of the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) model that allows token stakers to earn additional rewards in proportion to the tokens staked. Currently, the network allows only 100 validators who are chosen based on the amount of IRIS tokens you stake and the number of tokens other users on the network delegate to you.
