Fast, thorough and reliable. Is IPVanish worth the premium price?

About IPVanish

IPVanish is a comprehensive server network offering great global coverage fast speeds and they claim to be the best VPN on the market, though, they would say that, wouldn’t they? The packages are a little more expensive than most, but you do get more speed and coverage for your money.

Is using a VPN to access geographically restricted content legal?

There are many legitimate uses for a VPN. However, the legality of using one to access geographically restricted content is a bit of a grey area. While you're not likely to attract the attention of the Australian Government, you do run the risk of having your VPN or streaming subscription cancelled. There is also the chance that a copyright holder may want to pursue legal action if you're found to be accessing that content in an unlicensed region. Keep in mind that the very nature of a VPN masks your IP and prevents your online activity, so it's not for us to say if and how the copyright holders would be able to identify you if you do choose to access their content without the proper licensing. Here at finder.com.au, we do not encourage internet browsing activity outside the law, we only aim to compare the services available to Australians

All plans come complete with a 7-day money back guarantee.

What is a VPN and how does it work?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a tool designed to provide a safe, free and anonymous Internet experience. Every Internet ready device has an Internet Protocol (IP) address, allowing its movements to be tracked and its location to be determined. What a VPN does is mask your IP address with another IP address that can be anywhere in the world. This is great if you want to access geo-blocked content, which is content that has location restrictions placed on it (like HBO Go or Hulu Plus).

What operating systems can you use IPVanish on?

Like a lot of the other VPN providers, IPVanish is compatible with most operating systems and devices including Mac, Windows, Android, Google Chromebook, iOS and unlike some, Windows.

How do I setup IPVanish?

Select your tariff, pay the bill and then download the app on your device from the appropriate online store. You connect and you vanish (at least your IP will, hopefully you will still be there).

IPVanish pros and cons

  • IPVanish VPN delivers high speeds and a secure connection.
  • The network has more than 25,000 servers in over 60 countries, giving you exceptional global coverage.

  • The possible downside is the rigid payment structure, but if you know exactly how long you want the VPN for this could work in your favour.

What are the benefits of using IPVanish?

IPVanish is a fast and widespread service. If it’s in your price range and you like the layout, then you almost certainly wouldn’t be disappointed with the scope of their service.

Frequently asked questions

Am I being watched on the internet?

No, you’re not being watched on the Internet. But in recent years some countries governments have put into operation some extensive surveillance programs. Some people are fine with this, but for those who wish to keep their personal information safe from eavesdroppers, a VPN might be the way to go.

Why would I need to hide my IP address?

Most of us don’t need to hide our IP address, but some people choose to for privacy sake. If this hasn’t bothered you before, then there is no reason for it to bother you now.

Can I use your vpn to watch Netflix in Australia?

      Hi Carl,

      Thank you for your enquiry.
We’re a financial comparison website and general information service. Please note that we do not represent IPVanish VPN or any of the company that we feature on our pages.

You won’t need to use VPN services if you want to access or watch Netflix Australia contents. Also, it seems that you will not be able to access or watch Netflix US contents using IPVanish VPN since Netflix has blocked IPVanish’s VPN servers. Please check out this link for more information about Netflix blocking geododgers.

      Kind regards,
