iPad Pro: Specs, release date and Australian release date

Brodie Fogg 10 September 2015 NEWS

The much-rumoured iPad Pro is finally arriving. Here's why Apple is bargaining that it will replace your laptop (and secretly hoping it stops you buying a Surface Pro 3).

The iPad we wanted a year ago is finally arriving and with a wireless keyboard and "pencil". As much as we appreciate the sentiment of the Steve Jobs quote "if you see a stylus, they blew it", the reality is that third-party pens have been selling like hotcakes for years now.

So far, the main disadvantage of a third-party stylus has been responsiveness. None can mimic the smooth sailing of swipe operation – but, you know, we can't finger paint forever and that's where the Apple Pencil comes in.

Clearly competing with the Surface Pro 3, Apple has raised its flags at the border between laptop and tablet. Its wireless keyboard and Apple Pencil (neither of which are included, you have to purchase them separately) are evidence of this. But this is also the most powerful tablet Apple has released. Indeed the company claims the Apple iPad Pro is more powerful than 80% of laptops on the market.

When will the iPad Pro become available in Australia?

Online pre-orders for the iPad Pro will open up Wednesday, November 11 2015. Note that Apple has already raised the prices for other iPad models.
