From AFL to NRL, you'll never miss another match with these streaming services.
Free-to-air TV might have improved dramatically over the last few years, but there's one area where it's still sorely lacking: sports. Other than Racing.com, there are no commercial channels dedicated to covering sports, and what little does get covered is scattered across multiple different networks. Nine has netball, Seven has tennis and SBS has basketball; keeping track of it all can be a nightmare. Worse, coverage typically amounts to a game or two each week, with most matches never making it to broadcast. Even AFL, our unofficial national sport, televises less than half of each round's matches on free-to-air TV, leaving many fans out in the cold.
For many years, Foxtel has been the only solution for Aussies hankering to get their sports fix. A Foxtel subscription doesn't come cheap, though, and for fans interested in just a single sport, the expense is a hard one to justify.
Taking advantage of the rise of mobile and streaming technologies, the prominent telco has partnered with a number of Australian sporting organisations to provide Aussies with unfettered coverage of their favourite sports, anytime and anywhere. Every second of every game, be it AFL, NRL, NBL or netball, can be streamed live over the Internet, even if you're not a Telstra customer. And while it's not quite free, it's a whole lot cheaper than a Foxtel Sports package.
With AFL Live, all the footy you could ever want is just a tap away. By downloading the AFL Live mobile app, you get the latest news, scores, and highlights from the current AFL season beamed directly to your phone or tablet for free.
If that's not enough footy for you, an AFL Live Pass subscription will get you access to live streams of every game from every round, ensuring you don't miss a single tackle. A yearly subscription to AFL Live will normally set you back $99.99, but if you're a Telstra mobile customer, a 2017 season pass is yours free as part of Telstra's current sports promotion.
