Expert review

The IMB Platinum Rewards Mastercard offers features to suit two different types of cardholders: people who want to reward their spending and those who want to get their debts under control.

The 0% interest balance transfer could help you repay your balance and save, but you should note that you won’t earn points on these repayments. If you have a large debt to repay, there are other cards that offer longer interest-free periods on the market.

How to apply

You can apply for the IMB Platinum Rewards Mastercard online but you should check if you meet the eligibility requirements and have the necessary information to complete the application.

Eligibility criteria

  • Income. You must earn at least $35,000 p.a.
  • Credit history. You’ll need a good credit score and healthy credit history.

Card benefits

  • Balance transfer offer. Repay an existing debt with 0% p.a. for the first 14 months on balance transfers to this platinum card when you apply by 28 February 2020. You can transfer up to 80% of your approved credit limit and any remaining debt will attract the 21.74% p.a. cash advance rate at the end of the promotional period.
  • Rewards. You’ll earn 1 reward point per $1 spent on eligible purchases, which will be debited to your Card Services Rewards account. You can redeem your points for rewards including travel, gift cards with popular retailers and cashback to your account. You can also exchange your points with frequent flyer and reward partners for Virgin Australia Velocity Points, Emirates Skywards Miles, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and flybuys.

Rates & fees

  • Annual fee. Apply by 28 February 2020 and save with a discounted annual fee of $99 in the first year, which reverts to $129 p.a. thereafter.
  • Purchase rate. Purchases will attract a 20.24% p.a. interest rate.
