IKEA x Sonos collaboration

The unbeatable multi-room sound experience gets an affordable update.

Consumer electronics company Sonos has been leading the charge for a while now when it comes to a superb audio experience. Touted as one of the best speaker brands currently on the market, you've probably dreamt of getting your hands on some of its products for yourself. The reason you haven't, though, is likely to be the luxurious price tag that's always attached. But all of that's about to change with the brand's team up with none other than affordable Swedish homewares brand IKEA.

Rolling out both in-store and online at IKEA from 27 September, the collaborative collection is one that you're definitely not going to want to miss out on. The line will see Wi-Fi powered devices that fuse together home furnishings with technology, seamlessly blending the products into your decor while delivering on Sonos' signature high-quality sound.

SYMFONISK Table Lamp with Wi-Fi Speaker ($269)

Combining light and sound into one simple product, the SYMFONISK Table Lamp is made to help you reduce the number of devices and cables in your home. Both functions are capable of operating independently from one another, meaning that you can use the lamp as a speaker regardless of whether the light is off or on.

The lamp is reminiscent of the Sonos Play:1 speaker, offering a surprisingly loud output from the unsuspecting device. While there are no voice controls or touchpad, there are buttons on the base of the lamp, allowing you to easily play, pause and adjust the sound. Best of all, the lamp is available in two colourways of light grey and charcoal, offering a rather minimalist look that can easily slot into any interior.

SYMFONISK Wi-Fi Bookshelf Speaker ($149)

Perhaps even more simplistic in design is the SYMFONISK Bookshelf Speaker – a sleek, mountable device able to serve as a bookshelf for smaller items or fit snugly into a large bookcase itself. The little speaker is capable of holding up to 3kgs with the bracket and can also be attached to almost any kitchen rail, making it a breeze to find a convenient spot for.

The speaker also features rubberised feet, audio controls and an outer shell built to resist spilt liquids from reaching the speaker's hardware (we wouldn't recommend testing that theory, though).

Both the SYMFONISK Table Lamp and Bookshelf speaker are compatible with Sonos' own product range, helping you to achieve a multi-room audio experience at a significantly lesser price point. Both products can also be controlled through the Sonos app and are compatible with all major music streaming services.
