Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei's Google block doesn't apply to the P30 Pro, with Android 10 coming soon.

The Huawei P30 Pro has been one of the absolute standout premium flagship phones launched this year, but it's been under a significant cloud since US sanctions prohibited American companies from dealing with the Chinese technology firm.

While those sanctions have been relaxed somewhat with extensions, it appears it's been enough to get Android 10 to the Huawei P30 Pro, with Huawei confirming today that the Huawei P30 Pro will see an update to its EMUI10 platform.

EMUI is Huawei's own launcher built on top of Android, and it's confirmed that Android 10 is the basis for EMUI10. EMUI10 features an improved dark mode as well as optimisations around the phone's lock screen and app layout, as well as the underlying improvements in Android 10 itself.

When will I get the Android 10 update for the Huawei P30 Pro?

Good question. While Huawei has stated that the Huawei P30 Pro will get EMUI10, it hasn't given a timeframe for when the update will arrive for local phones. It's feasible, as the P30 Pro has been offered by carriers, that it may have to pass their certification as well.

Likewise, while Huawei has announced new colour variants for the Huawei P30 Pro in Misty Blue or Misty Lavender, we're told that their local availability will be "confirmed soon".
