How To Set Up Presto On Chromecast

Just signed up to Presto but don’t have a Smart TV? Never fear, Chromecast is just what you need

If you’ve recently signed up to the 60-day free trial of Presto (if you haven’t, then what are you waiting for?) but have found yourself severely limited to the amount of devices you can watch it on, you should probably think about purchasing a Google Chromecast.

Want all the TV shows and movies? You can get a free trial with each of the streaming internet tv providers below:

What is a Chromecast?

Using Google Chromecast you can surf the net, stream Netflix, watch YouTube and much more on your TV (even if it’s not a Smart TV). A Chromecast is a digital medium about the size of a flash drive. It’s an HDMI dongle that plays audio and video content on high-definition (HD) televisions. Users can easily stream content from their phones, tablets or computers using Google supported apps, like YouTube.

It also works by simply streaming any content via Google Chrome, allowing you to browse the internet through your television.

Where can I purchase a Chromecast and how much do they cost?

Dick Smith is selling the Chromecast at $49.00 AUD. Through the Dick Smith online store, you can have a Chromecast delivered to your door for a fee of $7.95. Chromecasts purchased through Dick Smith also come with a 12-month warranty.

I am with Netflix at the moment using google crome , streaming from my laptop to tv, not a smart tx. Is it possible to also watch other companies movies the same way. May sound a dumb question but what do I need to do to allow this to happen if at all possible.

      Hi Kaye,

Netflix, Presto and Stan are all compatible with Google Chromecast.

Samsung Tab3 Lite was successful in casting Presto movies to the TV via Chromecast prior to the updated Presto App. Despite numerous emails corresponding with Presto Support they have been unable to restore the chromecast tab when their movie is playing on the tablet. All others such as youtube, netflix, stan, cast 100%. Presto have given up on me and I do not know where to go for help. The tablet came as part of the Herald/Sun bundle, and Presto have been a complete failure when it comes to being able to rectify the missing chromecast icon.

      Hi, Ken

Sounds frustrating. Though, this isn’t an uncommon problem. The first three steps I would suggest would be a) making sure your Samsung Tab is updated to the latest Android version, b) checking for available updates for the Presto app, and c) checking that both your Chromecast and Samsung are connected to the same WiFi. If you’re still experiencing issues after that, I’d suggest contacting Presto via their social media channels. It’s the best way to get a speedy response.
