What is RAMP?

Ramp is a decentralised protocol that intends to expand the decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem and increase adoption. Responding to the growing DeFi infrastructure available – in 2021, over USD$300 billion worth of assets have been staked – Ramp offers a solution to the interoperability issues many dApps face. The protocol allows cross-chain staking, which means users can earn rewards on crypto assets that would otherwise sit idly in their wallets. Simply put, Ramp lets users with non ERC-20 (Ethereum-based) tokens stake their assets on Ethereum 2.0 networks. ETH owners can also benefit from the protocol, taking advantage of higher yields than many of Ramp’s competitors. Ramp streamlines the crypto purchasing process and allows users to buy coins directly within a wallet or application. The protocol is aimed at getting "crypto newbies" to participate in the DeFi sector. RAMP is the token native to Ramp DeFi, an application built using the Ramp protocol that accommodates cross-chain liquidity provision. RAMP tokens can be used for paying fees, staked for rewards, used to mint new tokens or to provide liquidity to a pool.

RAMP (RAMP) is the 377th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $106,729,631. The current price of RAMP is $0.293159, which is 11.681% higher than yesterday. What to consider when buying RAMP

Before you start investing in RAMP, it is important to understand some of the elements that may impact the coin’s price:
  • Tokenomics. RAMP’s total token supply is set at 1 billion. As of July 2021, 37% of that figure is currently in circulation (approx. 380 million). The tokens are distributed to 4 locations: Protocol reserves and partnerships (20%), Reserves for farming (45%), Development team (16%), and a general token sale (19%).
  • Accessibility. In spite of intending to be an on-ramping solution for crypto newcomers, RAMP’s actual token isn’t available on a number of major exchanges. It can be acquired on Binance by swapping a crypto like USDT or ETH.
  • Adoption. Ramp has identified a weakness in the DeFi sector and ultimately plans to increase global cryptocurrency uptake and use. For this goal to be successful, prominent and new FinTech developers will need to integrate the Ramp protocol onto their platforms and applications. A lack of new users may negatively influence the price of RAMP tokens.
