What is Hedget?

Hedget is a decentralised options trading protocol designed for on-chain derivatives trading. By providing stablecoins or other cryptocurrency as collateral, users can buy and sell options on the Hedget platform. Hedget platform runs on the Chromia network, which is used as an Ethereum Layer 2 solution. This ensures lower transaction costs and faster speeds, with Ethereum only used for settlement. The Hedget token (HGET) is the network’s native token. An ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, HGET is used to govern the platform. Sellers also need to stake their tokens to take part in option minting, while tokens can also be earned via liquidity mining.

Hedget (HGET) is the 1550th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $5,237,253. The current price of Hedget is $3, which is 5.186% higher than yesterday. Prices have ranged between $3.01 and $2.8 over the past 24 hours. All prices are listed in US dollars and accurate as of January 17, 2022 02:01 UTC.

What to consider when buying Hedget

Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and speculative assets. Buying any cryptocurrency comes with a high level of risk, so make sure you’re aware of the following factors before buying HGET:
  • Investment. CoinDesk reported in August 2020 Hedget raised $500,000 in seed funding. The funding was led by FBG Capital and NGC Ventures.
  • Competition. The DeFi sector is a growing and highly competitive space, so it’s worth considering which other players are targeting decentralised options trading. Some of the competitors you may want to keep an eye on include Hegic and FinNexus, among many others.
  • Token supply. The maximum supply of HGET tokens is fixed at 10,000,000. 10% of those tokens are allocated to the Hedget team, 50% are set aside for liquidity mining, and 20% are locked in reserve with their future usage to be determined by the platform’s DAO. Check the Hedget whitepaper and website for more details of token distribution.
  • Still in development. It’s still early days for the Hedget platform – as of April 2021, there was the option to try out an alpha version of the platform on the Hedget website. Whether the Hedget team can continue to achieve the goals on their development roadmap, and whether the platform has any widespread appeal, remains to be seen.
