What is Enzyme?

Enzyme Finance, formerly known as the Melon Protocol, is a decentralised finance (DeFi) application built on the Ethereum blockchain. The platform brings asset management to the cryptocurrency community. It allows users to deposit digital assets into actively managed funds and potentially earn passive returns. Enzyme Finance opens these funds to individuals and markets these funds in complete transparency. Integrations with multiple DeFi applications also gives users exposure to DeFi from one platform. Investors can also establish their own fund. Actively managed funds in traditional finance are often limited to wealthy individuals but Enzyme Finance seeks to change that. The MLN token is used to pay for various functions within the Enzyme Finance ecosystem and is used for governance of the protocol.

Enzyme (MLN) is the 276th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $92,058,887. The current price of Enzyme is $65.6, which is -5.831% lower than yesterday. Prices have ranged between $69.67 and $57.67 over the past 24 hours. All prices are listed in US dollars and accurate as of June 23, 2021 06:06 UTC.

What to consider when buying Enzyme

Before purchasing any cryptocurrency a user should always consider the risks involved in both the token and the associated platform. For Enzyme Finance and the MLN token, these are some factors to consider:
  • Supply. Upon launching Enzyme Finance, 1.25 million MLN tokens were minted. In the latest MIP7 tokenomics update, it states that 300,600 MLN tokens were released each year post the ICO. However, that annual release is now set to depreciate, starting in 2021, by 20%.
  • Disinflation. To incentivise support of the protocol, all newly minted MLN tokens are given to those that maintain and develop the network. Any remaining tokens are burned to prevent the overinflation of MLN tokens. The burn model implemented should have a disinflationary effect on price.
