What is Contentos?

Launched in 2019, Contentos is a decentralised blockchain focused on transparent content distribution. According to the whitepaper, the aim of the project is to build a decentralised digital content ecosystem that honours author ownership and intellectual property rights. To facilitate this, the blockchain utilises a self-adaptive Byzantine Fault Tolerance (saBFT) consensus mechanism to achieve community consensus quickly while allowing for digital content to be freely produced, distributed, rewarded and traded. The mechanism should keep pace with the high-frequency interaction required from a content platform.

Contentos’s internal architecture is broken down into 3 layers. The first focuses on decentralised storage and the creation of decentralised content agreements – payments for creators will be received without a middleman. The second is the financial system that focuses on the interaction of all encrypted tokens in the network. The third is a social network that combines the delivery of content, incentivisation to create new content and a credit rating system to hold users accountable.

COS is the native cryptocurrency of the ecosystem. It is designed to facilitate all of Contentos’s gas fee payments and allow users to participate in various voting-related processes.

What to consider when buying Contentos

Investing in any altcoin comes with significant risk. Cryptocurrencies can be extremely volatile. This is why it is crucial to research all aspects of the coin and the associated platform. Here are some factors to consider before purchasing COS:
  • Solid industry backing: Upon inception, Contentos was able to raise a sizable $31 million via a number of different private token sales rounds. Many believe this was thanks to the project being helmed by Micky Tsai, an industry veteran who has previously worked as an executive for a number of leading tech firms including Trend Micro and Cheetah Mobile.
  • Transparent revenue distribution model: All of the payment channels that are available to content creators and advertisers are maintained in a manner that is highly transparent and immutable. COS tokens are used to pay for subscription fees, gifting and sponsorship purposes. They can easily be tracked thanks to the use of a decentralised ledger.
  • Competition: Contentos is not the only blockchain focused on innovating the digital content sector. The blockchain will need to compete and continually develop to stay ahead of competitors such as Mediachain and the Steem blockchain.
  • Unbiased content delivery: A highly appealing facet of Contentos is that it is designed to help distribute viewer traffic in a manner that is totally decentralised and free of any third-party control. This is something that cannot be said of various mainstream platforms — including YouTube and Twitter — that are known to censor their ecosystems quite fiercely.
  • Copyright data traceability: Contentos allows creators to seamlessly register their copyright data, enabling them to freely share their content without having to worry about any IP infringements.
  • Unique credit system: According to Binance Academy, all transactions (including customer interactions) can be easily traced. This data is then used to create a credit score for each user. The platform rewards users with more COS tokens for showcasing trustworthy behaviour.
