Guild is an insurance provider that's been providing protection to Australians for over 50 years, with products ranging from professional indemnity insurance to car insurance. They also provide home insurance and currently offer two levels of cover: Home Essentials and Home Elite.

Policies you can get through Guild

Guild offers the following policies:

Home Essentials

This is Guild's standard home insurance. With it, you can choose to get cover for your home, contents or both. Some of the benefits include rebuilding costs up to 15% of the sum insured for your home, a sum insured safety net of up to 20%, emergency accommodation costs, up to $2,000 towards solar panels and more.

Home Elite

This provides all the benefits you get with Home Essentials plus a few extras like accidental loss or damage to your contents. It also comes with higher benefit limits. You can choose from home, contents and combined home and contents cover.

Guild's excess options

Like all insurance policies, a Guild home insurance policy usually requires you to pay an excess when you make a claim. An excess is the amount you're required to contribute whenever you make a claim. The excess is only applied once per event, even if you claim under more than one section. The standard excess is $500 but you might be able to select how much you want to pay. The higher the excess you choose, the lower your premium will be. You can choose from the following policy excesses: $100, $200, $300, $750 or $1,000. Depending on your circumstances, you might have to pay a higher policy excess.

To make a Guild home insurance claim, call them on 1300 988 988 and follow these steps:

  • Collect all the relevant information to ensure the process goes as quickly as possible.
  • An assessor might be appointed to assess the damage.
  • Your repairs will then be authorised.
  • Your repairs will be carried out and completed.
  • Following the completion of the repairs and finalisation of your claim, Guild will confirm any settlement amounts.
