For beaches: It doesn't get much closer to the action than accommodation on Geographe Bay Road or Bay View Crescent. For walking distance to the beach, the city centre is also just moments away.
For national parks: Old Dunsborough (north of the main city centre) will give you direct access to Meelup National Park via Cape Naturaliste Road.
For family-friendly activities: The southern end of Dunsborough or the north of Quindalup will have you near Xcape at the Cape, which is a water park for the little ones. There's also jetski tours available by the beach.
For wineries: For all your wine-tasting desires, you'll want to find stays in Quindalup or its surroundings. There are also a number of vineyards further inland, including Palmers, Vintners Ridge Estate, Happs Wines Margaret River and Aravina Estate.
Where to stay in Dunsborough for cheap
If you're looking to save a bit of money on your trip, then you'll ideally want to stay on the western side of Dunsborough, further inland. Some of the holiday homes on the budget-friendly side are past Cape Naturaliste Road or Caves Road. You'll find these houses are usually more of a country stay with ample living space, but they may lack a swimming pool or jacuzzi.
Enjoy a slice of paradise in Dunsborough with homes on Geographe Bay Road, Bay View Crescent and the waterfront of Old Dunsborough. These luxury and high-end homes will be right on the water or within a moments walking distance. In most cases, you'll either be immersed in views of the ocean or surrounded by trees for extra privacy. These stays are quite the treat with large, outdoor entertaining decks with barbeques, fresh interiors and multiple bedrooms for your friends or family.
Where to stay in Dunsborough for pet-friendly accommodation
Finding pet-friendly stays on the coast is not difficult with many stays situated in the middle of the city centre as well as Old Dunsborough. You'll find many of them are minutes away from the main coastal strip of Dunn Bay. Some dog-friendly attractions include Centennial Park and sections of the foreshore. We recommend these stays for their proximity to the beach as well as the large, grassed backyards they have on offer.
Is it legal to stay at a holiday home in Dunsborough?
Yes. Holiday homes are open once again to visitors.
What do I need to bring to a holiday home in Dunsborough?
We recommend packing the following for your WA getaway:
For the beach: Beach towels, snorkels, tent or sun umbrella, sunscreen and a hat
For hiking: Comfortable walking shoes, backpack and a reusable/insulated water bottle
What should I consider when I'm staying in a holiday home in Dunsborough?
To make your stay that much more comfortable, we suggest keeping an eye out for these holiday home features:
Air conditioning: Stay cool after a long day in the sun by ensuring your stay has central air conditioning.
Private parking spot: If you intend to drive to Dunsborough, or you're renting a car, you'll want to make sure that there's at least one parking spot allocated for you.
Outdoor dining space: With so many homes offering those picturesque ocean views, we recommend booking a stay with an outdoor eating area. There's nothing better than dinner with a view.
BBQ: Not only will it save you money on eating out, but having a BBQ also gives you another reason to spend time outside.
How do I get to my holiday home?
With no airport or train station in Dunsborough, you have the choice of travelling by bus or car. We recommend driving down as it will make getting to and from your stay a whole lot easier. As mentioned above, you'll want to make sure your holiday home has a private parking spot included with the property. If you choose to take public transport, your best bet will be to take a taxi to the stay.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We compare from a wide set of banks, insurers and product issuers. We value our editorial independence and follow editorial guidelines.
finder.com.au has access to track details from the product issuers listed on our sites. Although we provide information on the products offered by a wide range of issuers, we don't cover every available product or service.
Please note that the information published on our site should not be construed as personal advice and does not consider your personal needs and circumstances. While our site will provide you with factual information and general advice to help you make better decisions, it isn't a substitute for professional advice. If you're unsure about anything, seek professional advice before you apply for any product or commit to any plan.
Products marked as 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money here.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle. By providing you with the ability to apply for a credit card or loan, we are not guaranteeing that your application will be approved. Your application for credit products is subject to the Provider's terms and conditions as well as their application and lending criteria.
