What is a VPN and how does it work?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a clever little tool that has become very popular in recent years. If you haven’t heard of it, don’t worry, it’s easy to understand. Basically, a VPN hides your devices Internet Protocol (IP) address, byre-routing it through another IP address. It’s essentially an online disguise for your device, and is great for increasing your personal security, restricting tracking and allowing you to access content that is not usually available in your country or region.

Shirley, thanks for the article, but why use a VPN when you can use a DNS service like UnoTelly? The DNS option is much faster and easier to use.

      Hi Benjiman,

You are right, DNS does offer faster speeds for streaming content, whereas using a VPN is more about keeping your personal data safe from hackers/eavesdroppers. Some providers like Overplay, offer premium packages that give you a VPN and DNS. That way, you are both securely connected to the internet no matter where you are and you are able to smoothly stream content without any hiccups.

      I hope this helps.
