“Through HICAPS Go, consumers get a better experience, more transparency in the cost process and added flexibility which helps improve the trust between them, their practitioner and their health fund," NAB chief operating officer Antony Cahill said in a statement.

The new app provides you with an upfront estimate of treatment costs, which allows you to compare your options before getting treatment, meaning you won't get any unexpected out-of-pocket costs when it comes time to pay.

The HICAPS Go app currently features more than 400 practitioners in the Melbourne area, with the majority being chiropractors, myotherapists, osteopaths and physiotherapists.

Unfortunately, the app is currently only compatible with Medibank and AHM members. However, more funds and practitioners will be added as the app is rolled out country-wide over the next 12 months.

“There is no other product in the Australian market at the moment like this, which provides such a smooth end-to-end experience from booking, to cost transparency and payment capability,” Cahill said.

Health insurance claims and gap payments can be made securely online via your mobile device with any valid Australian Visa or Mastercard.

The HICAPS Go app is available both in the App Store and through Google Play.
