Where to find the best price on Hey! Pikmin in Australia
The plucky Pikmin are going on their first 2D adventure. Here's how you can join them on the cheap.
The Pikmin games might not have the same universal appeal of Mario, Zelda or other Nintendo mainstays, but they've always delivered a charming adventure unabashedly different to most other games out there. Exploring alien planets with a team of eager Pikmin by your side is quite relaxing, even when you stumble across a gigantic armoured beetle or a spindly spider hungry for a Pikmin-sized snack. As a peaceful alternative to the explosive intensity of many AAA games, Pikmin has always felt distinctly refreshing.
If you're of a similar mind, this week brings good news. The plant-headed Pikmin are back in Hey! Pikmin for the Nintendo 3DS. Despite swapping out the usual 3D environments for 2D levels better suited to the 3DS's small screens, all the core Pikmin mechanics remain intact. Captain Olimar has yet again crashed his spaceship on an uncharted planet, and he'll need to call on the aid of a variety of different Pikmin to gather up enough Sparklium to refuel his ship and find his way home. Sturdy Rock Pikmin can smash through barriers, Yellow Pikmin can activate electrical devices and winged Pikmin can carry Olimar up to areas he can't reach on his own.
Pikmin veterans won't just be going through the motions, either. Hey! Pikmin introduces a number of new features, including a jetpack for hovering short distances and the ability to swim for the first time in the series. While underwater, you'll only have access to your Blue Pikmin buddies, and you'll have to rely on them to keep you safe from the many enemies lurking in the briny deep.
If you're planning to join Captain Olimar on his latest adventure when Hey! Pikmin releases on 29 July, don't resign yourself to paying full retail price. Instead, check out the best deals on Hey! Pikmin in Australia right here:
