With both Hertz and Sixt, some vehicles are fitted with vehicle monitoring systems to track the vehicle’s location, speed and distance for the duration of the rental period.

Is there a points/loyalty programme?

Hertz has a Gold Plus Rewards Programme, allowing members to earn a point for every US dollar (or equivalent) spent at participating locations.

Sixt has the Sixt Express Card, which offers benefits such as loyalty-based membership upgrades, rental discounts, fast pick-ups, the ability to earn miles and points with airline and hotel partners plus the SixtMobile app, which enables you to reserve a car any time, anywhere.

Is GPS included?

Both companies offer GPS as an optional add-on, rather than a rental inclusion.

You can return your car early with Hertz, but an early return fee may apply.

Can I get a discount?

Aside from special deals, offers and vouchers, Hertz does not offer discounts. Gold Plus Rewards members can redeem points for free rental days, weekends or weeks.

Likewise, Sixt only offers discounts through its deals and participation in the Sixt Express Card programme.

What are the deals like?

Hertz deals range from discounts off the overall rental price to free extra days to discounts for certain vehicles and locations. Recent deals we’ve seen include one free day off the base rate when you book five days’ rental, 20% off the base rate when you book seven or more days’ rental, three days’ hire for the price of two over weekends and five days’ hire for the price of four.

Sixt has deals on particular vehicles, which vary by location. Sixt Express Card members also have access to exclusive deals and discounts of up to 20%. Popular deals include low prices on Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the USA, and on Suzuki Swift, Nissan Almera and Toyota Corolla models in Australia.
