Meet Mr Black. He’s the suavest, smoothest coffee liqueur in the world. And he’s just charmed his way into Grind House at Nixon Project, Surry Hills, with a handful of his best coffee cocktails.
Like we could say no to that dashing, young thing.
Mr Black is nobody new. In fact, this cold drip coffee liqueur has been regaling coffee and cocktail lovers alike in Sydney’s finest restaurants for quite some time. You’ve likely seen him, flirting with martini glasses in Rockpool Bar and Grill, or dancing on ice at Papi Chulo. (Check out all the bars serving up a Mr Black cocktail here.)
Now, he’s about to make one grand (and official) entrance into Australia at Grind House – the world’s first coffee cocktail bar.
Naturally, you’re invited to meet him.
The date is Thursday June 12, and the hour is 6pm sharp. The venue is daytime coffee bar, Nixon Project, and the attire is casual – though you’ll want to dress up for this soiree.
The cocktails are still being crafted by an exceptional team of cocktail mixologists, led by Rockpool’s Mischa Bonova, but what we can reveal so far is that espresso martinis, boozy iced coffees, and Mr Black cold drip coffee macchiatos will all be available to savour.
$45 will get your foot in the door, and three caffeine-injected cocktails of your choosing. It’s your prerogative if you wish to have them all at once, but real gentleman (and ladies) bide their time. And you’ll want to immerse yourself in each and every experience.
So far, only three dates have been set for the Grind House pop-up at Nixon Project. The first, the Thursday, is a ticketed-only event which has now SOLD OUT. However, because Mr Black doesn't wish to disappoint his public, and is also open on Friday (the 13th) and Saturday (the 14th) as a walk-in affair.
When he's done with his three-day bender, this rock ‘n’ roll coffee hound will tour the country.
We haven’t even met him yet, and we’re already a fan.
You too, right?
