Google has announced its Pixel range and is clearly gunning for Apple, but how does Pixel stack up against iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7?

Google has announced its new range of Pixel smartphones. The search behemoth has dabbled in handsets before with its Nexus range, but this is the first time Google has created its own smartphone hardware from the ground up, without involvement from the likes of Huawei or LG. Google is unabashedly positioning the Pixel and Pixel XL as "iPhone killers" with a series of digs aimed at Apple's latest smartphone (the series had identical pricing to the latest iPhone 7 range).

We got some hands on time with the Pixel and Pixel XL at Sydney's live stream of the Google Pixel announcement and thoroughly enjoyed playing around with the new Google Assistant AI and the Pixel's 12MP camera in low-light conditions. But hands-on experiences aside, how does the Pixel compare to the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 in terms of specifications and pricing?

We've compared the specs of each premium handset below and plans across Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin further down the page.
