Snowboarding Perisher

Compare the early bird discounts at Thredbo and Perisher Blue.

By the numbers, Australia's Snowy Mountains is the country's most popular skiing and snowboarding destination. Perisher Blue and Thredbo are the biggest names in the Snowies, and this year they're both offering big discounts if you book at least seven days in advance. Both offers are slightly different though, so compare them side by side to find the one which offers you the best price.

Perisher Blue is offering an extravagant 25% off on all lift tickets, and a "five days for the price of four" deal. Some conditions apply though.

  • To get 25% off you must purchase tickets at least seven days in advance.
  • To get 25% off you must buy your tickets online.
  • To get five days for the price of four, the same conditions apply. You must buy online, and at least seven days in advance.

These multi-day lift tickets are only valid on consecutive days. By combining both discounts your new price for a five day lift ticket at Perisher Blue is:

Adult (age 14-65): $509 $379.50

Child (age 5-14): $279 $209.25

Senior (age 65+): $320 $240

Note: These prices are as of the time of writing and are examples of savings compared to original prices only. Lift ticket prices change throughout the season and will vary depending on when you purchase them. Your tickets may cost more or less than the prices above.

Thredbo is also offering generous discounts for those who buy early, online and at least seven days in advance. MyThredbo members can get 20% off, and everyone else gets 10% off the price of:

  • Lift tickets with rental bundles
  • Lift ticket and lesson with rental bundles
  • Equipment rentals
  • Child lift ticket and 3 hour lesson with rental bundles

For "5 of 7 day" lift tickets alone without rentals or lessons and the full 20% MyThredbo buy early and save discount, your savings can be:

Adult: $530 $424

Child: $304 $243

Senior: $304 $243

Note: As above, these are just examples to show how much you could save on ticket prices as of the time of writing. They vary throughout the season, and could be higher or lower depending on when you decide to go skiing.

The Thredbo buy early and save discounts cannot be combined with other promotional offers.

The ultimate savings trick

It's easier to save more with Perisher Blue, but if you want to include equipment rental or lessons packages, or are visiting for seven days but only want to ski for five, then the total savings will probably be bigger at Thredbo.

But for the biggest savings overall, you can visit both. If you're visiting the Snowy Mountains for a week, you can get the buy early and save deals with a "5 of 7 day" Thredbo lift ticket along with equipment rental at 20% off, and a two day Perisher lift ticket at 25% off. Rent equipment, take lessons and ski at Thredbo for five days, then take those skills and that equipment to Perisher for the other two of those seven days.

With this, you can hit both resorts to find your favourite, and get massive discounts on lift tickets, equipment rental and even lessons.
