AirAsia has dropped prices to Ho Chi Minh, now starting at just $159 each way out of Melbourne, or $199 from Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. This deal runs until 13 August, for flights all the way from 1 September to 30 November.

With these months being among Vietnam's cheapest, this is probably a combination low-season and last-minute sale, doubling up the savings. For drier weather you probably want to book for the earliest dates at the start of September, but if you're not bothered by rainy days, a trip in November can reward you with even lower prices around Ho Chi Minh city and fewer other tourists at the main attractions.

These are outstanding prices, almost a dollar-for-dollar match with Jetstar's introductory Ho Chi Minh flight sale. You'll occasionally find cheaper flights to Vietnam than these, but September is right around the corner, so odds are you won't find a better price before then. Right now, you have a fantastically easy way to pick up a week-long overseas holiday for under $1,000.

All flights follow the same route, direct from departure to Kuala Lumpur for a stopover and the onto Ho Chi Minh City. As such, these prices are especially outstanding if you're flying out of Perth or the Gold Coast, letting you shave off the cost of a domestic leg to Sydney or Melbourne that would be incurred with other airlines.

You can find these deals until 13 August. See the cheapest fares available here, or search for your preferred dates in September, October and November below.
