There are a few different airlines constantly competing for the cheapest USA flights, and every now and then Air New Zealand takes the lead. This looks like one of those times, with flights starting at just $868 return, for travel dates during and after the USA summer.

This sale runs until 14 August, and flights are for a select range of dates from August to December 2017, plus a bit of early 2018, so you're mostly looking at a last minute seat-filler sale. Prices are very similar across the full range of dates, right up to December, so it's reasonable to assume that these prices are as low as Air New Zealand is willing to go for the remainder of 2017.

These aren't quite as cheap as flights to Los Angeles ever get, but $50 off is definitely close enough, and you're looking at the best value out of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, but still very reasonable deals out of Adelaide and Perth.

  • Brisbane to Los Angeles from $868 return
  • Melbourne to Los Angeles from $868 return
  • Sydney to Los Angeles from $883 return
  • Adelaide to Los Angeles from $1,025 return
  • Perth to Los Angeles from $1,041 return

Sample flights include Brisbane to Los Angeles for $868 return, departing 25 October and returning 10 November, Melbourne to Los Angeles for $868 return, departing 27 January and returning 18 February and Sydney to Los Angeles for $883 return, departing 23 August and returning 3 September.
