Train up your amiibo, boost their stats by feeding them items, and duke it out with and against them in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
Many of us remember fondly the late nights clocking up 20 hours to unlock Mewtwo in Super Smash Bros. Melee or defeating Super Smash Bros. 64 in under 20 minutes to unlock the fiery Captain Falcon.
Series creator Masahiro Sakurai knows his audience well as each iteration of Smash has included more increasingly offbeat characters than the last. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS expect to square up with some the oddest combinations you could possibly imagine. See Princess Peach pummel Mario, watch in shock as Bayonetta lays the smack down on Jigglypuff and gaze in awe as Cloud Strife clobbers the Duck Hunt Dog. Yes, it's all very bizarre.
For the latest entry in the Super Smash series, Sakurai and the good people at Sora Ltd have expanded the playable character roster to include 34 characters at purchase, and an extra 7 to download. Just like Brawl, the roster doesn't stop at classic Nintendo characters. There are iconic characters from across the video gaming universe, including Street Fighter's Ryu, Final Fantasy's Cloud Strife and shapeshifting witch Bayonetta.
Additional characters are just the beginning. There's so much that's new about Super Smash that fans have to experience themselves, including a quality online multiplayer mode that really tests your skill as a serial smasher.
The best part is, the entire first wave of amiibos was dedicated to Smash, meaning just about every character has a physical amiibo figure (and if they don't yet have one, they will eventually).
- amiibo fighters tap in:
You can fight with or against your amiibos by tapping them on the Nintendo Wii U gamepad or NFC reader for 3DS. Fighting with them will cause them to learn from your fighting style and fighting against them will push them to learn how to defeat you.
- Train your amiibo to be the best:
The more your amiibo fights, the more experience points it gains. As your amiibo gets stronger, it levels up until it hits a cap of level 50. The learning doesn't stop there. Even once your amiibo has peaked at level 50, it will continue to learn and adapt.
- Abilities and presents:
Super Smash allows you to feed equipment collected from the single player campaign to your amiibo, resulting in various stat increases, custom abilities and variations on traditional attacks.
