You are a steampunk soldier under orders from Abraham Lincoln to combat an alien threat. If you're not sold already, read on for more about Nintendo's absurd turn-based strategy title.
Code Name S.T.E.A.M is a steampunk strategy with third-person shooter elements. S.T.E.A.M takes a similar approach to the X:COM series by mixing over-the-shoulder, third-person shooting and grid-based strategy, not unlike that of the ever-popular Fire Emblem series. That inspiration is obvious when you consider the added amiibo compatibility for Fire Emblem's resident Smash Bros. Marth, Ike, Robin and Lucina.
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M (Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menance) tasks you with managing a team of agents under the command of none other than Abraham Lincoln (voiced by Wil Wheaton). Players take turns in strategically maneuvering around a grid in an attempt to gain the upper hand over the opposing alien threat while utilising a steam meter, that unleashes a devastating offence when filled.
Comic book styled cut-scenes pad out the game with a weird and wonderful story that visits real world locales and cameos a bunch of pop culture icons and real-life historical figures.
- Fire Emblem and S.T.E.A.M
If you're already a proud owner of Super Smash Bros. and its compatible Fire Emblem amiibos, then go right ahead and tap them on your 3DS and NFC reader while playing S.T.E.A.M. Marth, Ike, Robin and Lucina will transfer into the game, ready to join your team.
- Gear-up with iconic Fire Emblem weapons:
Each Fire Emblem character wields unique weaponry otherwise not seen in the S.T.E.A.M universe. S.T.E.A.M allows you to wield Ike's sword, Ragnell, and Marth's blade, Falchion.
- Tap to revive:
If any Fire Emblem character falls in battle, tap your amiibo to revive them.
