Earthlock and Mirror’s Edge lead September’s Games With Gold

Brodie Fogg 25 August 2016 NEWS

OG Mirror's Edge is up for grabs on 360 and fantasy RPG Earthlock: Festival of Magic debuts on Xbox One in September's Games with Gold line-up.

One thing that PlayStation Plus has consistently trumped Games With Gold with is inclusion of previously unreleased games, like Rocket League, Furi, Rebel Galaxy and last month's Paragon beta. While Games with Gold came close with The Banner Saga 2, we've more or less come to expect dated classics from the Xbox freebies.

However, this month Microsoft is atoning for this by debuting the cutesy turn-based RPG Earthlock: Festival of Magic in its September selection for Xbox One.

Earthlock casts players in role of Amon, a young desert scavenger who sets out with a band of friends to save the world of Umbra from a legion on fantastical beasts. Earthlock looks to be a baby-faced RPG with some serious strategy and character progression set against a beautifully illustrated backdrop.

Also included in September's lineup are Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China for Xbox One, a 2D take on AC's stealth action, and Forza Horizon and Mirror's Edge for Xbox 360. Both Xbox 360 titles are backwards compatible supported for Xbox One play as well.

Here's what's available and when:

  • Earthlock: Festival of Magic (Xbox One): Available 1 September to 30 September
  • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China (Xbox One): Available 16 September to 15 October
  • Forza Horizon (Xbox 360): Available from 1 September to 15 September
  • Mirror's Edge (Xbox 360): Available from 16 September to 15 October
