The Escapists breaks free in October’s Games with Gold

Brodie Fogg 22 September 2016

Strategy RPG, The Escapists and Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings top the bill for October's Game with Gold.

October's lineup of Games with Gold have been officially announced via Major Nelson's blog. First and foremost are this month's Xbox One games, which include the critically-acclaimed strategy RPG The Escapists and a remake of 2014's indie PlayStation hit Super Mega Baseball.

Xbox Live members can access the following games throughout October.

  • The Escapists (Xbox One) 16 October to 15 November
  • Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings (Xbox One) 1 October - 31 October
  • MX vs. ATV Reflex (Xbox 360) 1 October - 15 October
  • I Am Alive (Arcade) 16 October - 31 October

Created by the one-man Moldy Toof Studios, The Escapists is a top-down strategy game that tasks the player with escaping a prison. To break free, the player has to take advantage of every tool and fool at their disposal. If caught, the player must start plotting their escape all over again. Harsh. Fans of difficult rogue-likes and crafting games like Minecraft should get a real kick out of The Escapists.

Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings is a light-hearted competitive baseball game from indie studio Metalhead. When it originally released back in 2014, it was praised for its local co-op and competitive play, hefty customisation options and its fun sense of humour.

You can still pick up last month's games, Assassin's Creed Chronicles and Mirror's Edge, until 15 October. Earthlock is available until 30 September.
