March’s Games With Gold line-up is super hot

Matt Sayer 21 February 2018 NEWS

Neo ain't got nothing on the free games coming to Xbox One next month.

If February was the month of hacking and slashing on Games With Gold, March is all about shooting while looking like a complete bad-arse.

Instead of Assassin's Creed Chronicles and Shadow Warrior, next month sees the phenomenal time-bending shooter Superhot hit Microsoft's subscription service. As the tagline goes, time only moves when you do, meaning you can get up to some serious John Woo-style shenanigans like side-stepping bullets, dodging sword swings and stealing weapons right out of your enemies' hands.

Best of all, once you finish each level, you can play it back in real-time to see just how untouchable you looked to the poor polygonal schmucks you took down.

Accompanying the excellent Superhot is Ubisoft's unusual mash-up of Trials and Far Cry. Trials of the Blood Dragon ditches the pure BMX puzzle-platforming of the regular Trials games for something far more absurd, kitting you out with jetpacks, grappling hooks and even a tank. The irreverent humour of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is all there, too, sure to have you shaking your head in disbelief at how bonkers the story gets.

Finally, Xbox 360 owners and fans of Xbox One backwards compatibility get a chance to revisit Brave: The Video Game and Quantum Conundrum. I can't vouch for the former, but Quantum Conundrum is a brilliant puzzle game developed by the lead designer of Portal. It takes plenty of inspiration from that seminal title, too, and is well worth diving back into if you missed it on Xbox 360.
