Gallery: DOOM 90s vs. DOOM 16

DOOM celebrates everything that made the godfather of FPS an icon. We've put together a gallery that compares the monsters from DOOM 1 and 2 with their 2016 versions to show how far the series has come.

It feels like just yesterday I was sat in the dark on a squeaky office chair cleansing Mars of demon scum, the cock-rocky soundtrack blaring, the stunning 3D visuals illuminating the room. DOOM was never really considered a scary game by older players, but for me scurrying from demons, lost souls and zombies was one of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences of early memory.

Playing through the recently released DOOM transported me back to those days - which is quite clearly id Software's intention with the new release. With DOOM 2016, everything old is new again and to exemplify just how much some things have changed (and how some have stayed the same) we've compared monster character models from DOOM 1 and 2 with their 2016 counterparts. Click on the arrows to scroll through and compare.
