GFARM2 is a legacy token of the decentralised finance (DeFi) application known as gTrade. Launched in February 2021 on the Ethereum blockchain, gTrade was the first application launched by the Gains Network, a DeFi-focused blockchain ecosystem that is aiming to offer users one of the best DeFi ecosystems in the cryptocurrency industry.
According to the project’s documentation, the gTrade application focuses on decentralized leverage trading and thanks to its internal architecture, can offer traders access to extremely high leverage and extremely low transaction fees. Although the Gains Network was developed using Ethereum, to improve functionality, gTrade was launched on the Polygon blockchain. The trading application offers users the ability to trade crypto pairs with up to 150x leverage and forex pairs with up to 1000x leverage. To ensure accurate pricing, the network is integrated with the decentralised data oracle, Chainlink, which facilitates real-time median spot prices from over five different exchanges.
The GFARM2 token was the original utility token of the gTrade application and Gains Network. However, in October 2021, the community voted to migrate GFARM2 tokens to a new utility token called GNS. Both Gains Network and gTrade now revolve around both the native utility token, GNS, and the protocol’s utility NFTs. The migration of GFARM2 to GNS is open indefinitely as GFARM2 tokens were already well distributed within the community. The new GNS token supports all products within the Gains Network and can be staked within the network to earn passive rewards.
