Who offers the best price?

On comparing G Adventures and Contiki we found tours to be quite varied for Australia trips. For example, a 16-day tour from Sydney to Cairns costs $3,339 on Contiki while a similar trip is this 14-day tour which starts at $3,739 on G Adventures .

In this case, the main differences is that Contiki's tour stops at the Noosa Everglades while G Adventures' visits Brisbane. Contiki also includes more meals (15 breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner on this specific tour) which G Adventures only includes 4 breakfasts and 2 lunches. Something to keep in mind however is that Contiki's also has a maximum group size of 30 while G Adventures' cuts its tour size at 16.

On comparing international trips, G Adventures was miles cheaper. For example, a 13-day Greek Island hopping trip with Contiki came up at $2,668 while a similar trip on G Adventures only costs $2,362. Similar to domestic trips, Contiki offers some meals (12 breakfasts and 2 dinners) while G Adventures' trip does not. Contiki also has a maximum group size of 48 with travel on ferry while G Adventures has a maximum tour size of 8 and will be on a private yacht.

The verdict: Contiki offers better prices on Australian tours but G Adventures is cheaper for worldwide trips. However it's always good to keep in mind extras, such as included meals, as this might tip the scales on price.

Currently, Contiki offers over 350 trips worldwide, while G Adventures has nearly 800 tours. This is not surprising as G Adventures accommodates a much wider age group than Contiki.

The verdict: G Adventures offers more than twice the number of tours on Contiki.

Any other differences worth noting?

Cancellation policy: Contiki has a more relaxed cancellation policy than G Adventures.

With Contiki, you’ve to cancel your tour before 45 days from departure to avoid deduction apart from the deposit. With G Adventures, this is 60 days.

If you cancel in the last month from the start of the tour, you can get a refund up to 75% with Contiki but with G Adventures, you lose your full tour cost.

What are the deals like?

Contiki offers a range of discounts including early payment discount, last-minute deals, loyalty offers, group-travel discount and multiple-trip discount. On the other hand, G Adventures only serves up last-minute deals and loyalty discounts.
