Review: Does the Frank Body Scalp Scrub and Hair Mask live up to its promise? Yes, it does.
These products promised longer hair in two months and, no joke, they delivered.

I am a hair care fiend. I will more than happily spend my entire paycheque on a product if it's going to give me Rapunzel-length hair. However, one product I can confirm I have never tried before is a scalp scrub.
I'd definitely heard of scalp scrubs before but I felt like I'd walk out of the shower as if I'd spent the day at the beach with copious amounts of sand in my hair. In other words, they sounded messy.
Although, it did kind of make sense for a brand like Frank Body to release a scalp scrub and hair mask duo. I mean, the brand is all about scrubbing and moisturising your skin, so why not your hair too?

The Hair Scrub
Hair scrubs are a relatively new concept. They're also something that if used incorrectly can end up being worse for you. If you over scrub your scalp you can actually end up breaking the hair follicles at the root which honestly sounds like the most horrific thing one could do to their hair.
The reason why I love this scrub and am not completely terrified to use it is that the grains are super fine. The product wasn't aggressive to my scalp at all and made it super easy to apply and wash out the product. I simply sectioned my hair, applied throughout my scalp and massaged like I would when using shampoo.
I definitely thought the scrub would be harder to wash out than it was but fortunately it just took a little shampoo and presto, gone. I probably wouldn't be confident enough to wash out the product without shampoo as I'm not sure just water would efficiently remove the grains.
As someone who has never scrubbed their scalp before it was initially a strange experience but I definitely enjoyed it. On top of that, the actual scent of this product is to DIE for. The formula contains ingredients like coffee, eucalyptus and peppermint. This also means you get this cool tingly sensation that I can confirm, I am 100% addicted to now.
The Hair Mask
Now I am no stranger to a hair mask. I have probably tried every hair mask that has ever been made (no I haven't but I'm probably really really close). So there are definitely a few points that I need ticked off when I use one in order for it to become a favourite of mine:
- A small amount of product needs to go a long way
- I don't need to leave it in for a long period of time – if it's over 15 minutes then no deal
- It should be super easy to wash out all the product and not like an arm workout
- If my hair doesn't feel like it could belong on a unicorn then I want my money back
Safe to say this mask ticked all my boxes. Every. Single. One.
When I first started using this product I was a little sceptical because of the thin, lightweight formula. As a result, I went completely overboard with how much product to use. Trust me when I say a small amount of product goes a lonnnnng way.
This mask smells just as amazing as the scrub. It makes me feel like my hair had a big drink of water and the fact that it's super easy to wash out is a bonus. You also don't need to follow up with a conditioner either.
One important thing to note about the mask is that Frank Body recommends using it two to three times a week, though I only wash my hair once a week. Therefore I also felt like my hair wasn't getting the full experience if I needed to use the product so many times a week.

The Hair Scrub
I've been using this product for approximately two months now and I have to say I'm impressed. I can't see myself going back to that dark time in my life when I didn't use a scalp scrub.
This product was such a game changer for me personally as I have a dry scalp and can get pesky dandruff. The scrub seriously helped to reduce dry skin on my scalp. On top of that, it helped to rid my hair of product build-up (weeks' worth of dry shampoo). It is recommended to use hair scrubs once a week for those with dry hair and twice a week for those with oily hair to ensure you don't over scrub your scalp.
The Hair Mask
As I said, I have tried multiple hair masks in my time and this product really is up there. I think it could potentially work a little better for those with thinner to medium thickness hair but it still did the job on my hair.
I definitely noticed an immediate difference after using this product though. My hair felt like it had received a salon treatment because the hydration was that legit. It is great at moisturising your scalp without making it oily. It also made my hair feel super soft and lightweight, but did not weigh it down like some masks can do.
The final verdict
- A lot of product goes a long way
- Effectively cleans and strengthens hair at the same time
- Super affordable
- Delicious scent
- Instant and long-term results
- Ingredients include alcohol which could irritate sensitive skin
- The mask probably works better for those with thin/medium hair
- Mask needs to be used two to three times a week
- The scrub could probably have a pump nozzle to make the application to the scalp easier
So would I buy this product again? Hell yes. It's super affordable and is worth a purchase to give it a go. I'm addicted to scalp scrubs now and am obsessed with the scent. There are a few points that I think could improve listed above but they definitely do not outweigh the positives.
I noticed hair growth after two months, though my hair grows pretty quickly naturally but can get pretty ratty on the end. Now? My hair is definitely longer but the ends still have shine to them which is a huge tick! It has also caused my hair thickness to carry right through to the ends due to fewer split ends.
