You can now control Foxtel Now and Foxtel GO with your voice
Voice commands are available on Foxtel Now and Foxtel GO via the Google Assistant.
Foxtel Now and Foxtel GO users can now start streaming by using just their voice, with Google Assistant-enabled devices like Google Nest and Chromecast. All they need to do is say "Hey Google", followed by a command. They can start streaming a series or fiddle with the controls – adjust the volume, fast forward, rewind and turn on captions. All hands-free.
Voice commands are available for all Foxtel Now subscribers and for cable/satellite customers using Foxtel GO and who have a multi-room or multi-room casting subscription. In order to use voice commands for Foxtel via Google Nest devices, you will need to have the Google Home app installed on your smartphone or tablet and a Chromecast device or Foxtel Now box.
The new voice command functionality is the latest in a series of strategic moves Foxtel has made to become more appealing to both existing and potentially new users. The telco also launched its first loyalty program, Foxtel First, which offers long-time customers all sorts of perks like tickets to events, exclusive on-demand content, discounts and priority customer service.
Foxtel signed an important partnership with Netflix this year, giving subscribers to both services easy access to all available content. It also recently announced a new deal with Discovery, with the addition of a new true crime channel to the Foxtel line-up in 2020.
