TV – Platinum HD – $89 per Month
We are currently paying $89 per month and seems they intend to charge $139 p/month at the end of our 12 months which is 18/12/20, call Foxtel for a better deal, however not interested with existing customers, yet new customers being given better deals ????
We would much rather look for a cheaper, better deal or alternative, with Foxtel if possible…..,
We are seniors, mainly interested in;
HD, Movies, sports, like A-league, AFL, English and European Soccer / football, fishing programs like “Deadliest catch”, lifestyle channels especially like real estate programs
What are/is the cheapest way/package or other alternatives for us please?
Thanks Donn
Hi Donn,
Yes, unfortunately a lot of Foxtel’s specials and deals are only for new customers.
Good news is that all Foxtel channel packs now come in HD. However, to get the minimum programs you’re after you’d need the Foxtel Plus, Sports, Movies and Favourites pack which would cost $104 per month.
You can get everything you’re after though for a much cheaper alternative. If you are comfortable with streaming you could subscribe to Kayo Sports and BINGE. Both of which are owned by Foxtel.
Kayo has every single sports channel that is on Foxtel except for Sky Racing. However, it does sometimes have more sports that Foxtel can’t fit on its live channels. You can subscribe to Kayo for $25/month which allows you to watch on 2 seperate devices at once. New customers also get a 14-day free trial. If you need to watch on 3 devices at once then you can get the $35/month subscription.
BINGE has a good 90% of the content on Foxtel. They have almost every TV show except a few like Wentworth. They’ve also got over 1000 movies that are on Foxtel. If you want to watch BINGE in HD there’s two potential packages. The Standard BINGE pack is $14/month and allows you to watch on 2 devices at once. Otherwise you can get the Premium pack for $18/month and watch from 4 devices simultaneously.
So you don’t lose the entire Foxtel experience either BINGE has 17 live Foxtel channels in addition to everything else on-demand.
You will only get ads on BINGE and Kayo when watching live. We have compared Foxtel vs Kayo and BINGE vs Foxtel too if you were after more information.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions.
Cheers,
Aaron
I am currently paying $92/month on a Foxtel package that includes the Essentials pack ($53/mth), Sports pack ($29/mth) and HD pack ($10/mth). No Movies are currently included.
Can you please advise how the Foxtel Sports HD package ($74/mth) compares with my existing Foxtel package as apparently this package also included movies!
Are you able to provide me with a run down of channels available on the Foxtel Sports HD package?
Cheers, Ted
Hey Ted,
It sounds like you’re on an old subscription package and you can definitely save some money. Foxtel last year introduced the HD pack as an inclusion on all packs so you no longer need to pay the $10/month for that. On top of that the Essentials Pack is now known as the Foxtel Plus pack and costs $49/month.
Yes, the Sports HD pack is $74/month, but it does not have movies. If you want movies you’ll need to add on the Movies HD pack which is an additional $20/month. So if you want all three (Foxtel Plus, Sports HD and Movies HD) it’ll cost $94/month.
The channels in the sports pack currently includes all seven of the Fox Sports channels (plus Fox Sports Ultra HD if you have an iQ4 box), two ESPN channels and three beIN Sports channels. The Fox Sports news channel as well as the Sky Racing channels are now included as part of the Foxtel Plus pack.
If you’re interested in streaming you could get your desired packs cheaper via a href=”https://www.finder.com.au/internet-tv/foxtel-now”>Foxtel Now. Like Foxtel iQ you can’t just get the Sports pack. You’ll also need the Foxtel Essentials package which is $25/month. The Sports pack is $29/month. The Movies pack is an additional $20/month so you can cut your bill down to $74/month, while adding on movies. There’s also a 10-day free trial. .
Otherwise if you want to go cheaper again you could opt for the Foxtel owned Kayo Sports and BINGE. Kayo is only $25/month and has all the same channels as the Foxtel Sports pack minus Fox Sports Ultra HD. BINGE starts from just $10/month and is essentially a mix of the Foxtel Plus, Favourites and Movies packages. Both services also have 14-day trials if you wanted to test them out.
We have compared Foxtel vs Kayo and BINGE vs Foxtel too if you were after more information.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
Cheers,
Aaron
I’m only interested in watching golf , what is the cheapest way/package for me please?
Hi Lea,
If you’re only interested in watching the golf you’ll need a package that has Fox Sports which is only available in the Sports pack.
Foxtel IQ’s Sports pack costs at minimum $74/month. As it’s mandatory to also have a subscription to Foxtel Plus which is $49/month. Currently they’re advertising a special for Sports HD & Kids for $64/month. This service runs via satellite.
Your next choice is getting Fox Sports via Foxtel Now. Like Foxtel IQ you can’t just get the Sports pack. You’ll also need the Foxtel Essentials package which is $25/month. Once you add on the sports pack $29/month you’ll be up for $54 each month. There’s also a 10-day free trial.
The cheapest option is Kayo Sports. Kayo has all of the sports content on Foxtel and more. Like Foxtel Now it works via the internet. Kayo costs $25/month and allows you to stream to 2 devices at once. There’s also a 14-day free trial available if you’re a new customer.
If you’d like a further breakdown you may find our how to watch golf guide helpful. Otherwise please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
Cheers,
Aaron
I would like to know what channels is in the foxtel basic package. On the website it just tells me 50+ channels. what are they?
Hi Jenny,
There’s 55 channels in the basic Foxtel Plus pack according to Foxtel. They are the following:
Thanks,
Aaron
I like watching World Superbike races live and World Motorcycle grand Prix races as well as some AFL football What package should I look at getting.
Hi Vern,
If your heart is set on Foxtel then your best bet is the Foxtel Sports HD Pack which runs via satellite. This costs $74/month plus set-up costs. However, right now you can get it for $59/month if you sign up for 12 months and they’ll waive installation costs too.
There’s also Foxtel Now which gets you the same channels as Foxtel, except it runs via the Internet not satellite. This option is slightly cheaper $54/month, but doesn’t have a set-up cost or lock in contract and has a AFL, World Superbikes and MotoGP that you’re after you might be better off with Kayo Sports which is 14-day free trial to get you started. We’ve got a

Can I get foxtel without internet on my tv
Hi Colin,
Yes, you can get Foxtel on your TV without requiring an internet connection. To do so you’ll need to take up a subscription with Foxtel, packages start from $49/month, but you may also incur installation costs. Foxtel operates via satellite.
Cheers,
Aaron
During COVID19 we had extra channels at no extra cost due to there being no sport to watch..this offer was only until 30th June. How much would it cost to continue with these extra channels but excluding movies? I tried to phone but to no avail. No one wants to speak these days!
Hey Jennifer,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with Foxtel.
Before I can calculate the cost of adding the extra channels, can you please let me know the current package you’re subscribed to?
Cheers
Aaron
I have a friend who has foxtel sports and is very happy and gets a few movies thrown in can you tell me how much a month this will cost and installing fee
Hi Terry,
For Foxtel you have two options either Foxtel IQ or Foxtel Now.
Right now you can sign up to Foxtel IQ with sports and movies packs included for $75/month for the first 12 months, on a yearly contract. Foxtel are also currently waiving the set-top box and connection fees for this bundle.
If you don’t want to be locked into a contract the cost is $94/month for sports and movies, plus $150 for the IQ4 box and $35 for a connection fee. Both of these options also include the mandatory subscription for the Foxtel Plus pack which has 54 live channels.
On Foxtel Now this will cost you $64/month for sports and movies. That also includes the mandatory $25/month Essentials base pack that contains a mix of Pop and Lifestyle channels. Foxtel Now has a no-lock in contract or installation fee. Though, it’s important to remember that Foxtel Now is streamed via the internet, so you will need a plan with sufficient data.
Otherwise if it’s purely Foxtel sports and movies that you’re after you could consider their other services Kayo Sports and BINGE. Both of these are streamed via the internet like Foxtel Now and are free to set-up. Kayo has the exact same sports content as Foxtel, while BINGE has hundreds of Foxtel movies, TV shows and live channels. Kayo Sports starts at $25/month and BINGE is available from just $10/month.
I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us out again.

I have been a telstra foxtel customer for over 19 years. I do not have a current contract with Telstra. I wish to move to your foxtel plus and add the sports package. I have been informed by telstra that if I close my account with them I cannot open an account with foxtel for 3 months as this is a foxtel instruction. Is this statement correct.
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your comment and I hope you are doing well.
Rather than closing the account, you can choose to migrate to Foxtel. Telstra should be able to do the migration instantly and you will need to call Telstra to process this request.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Nikki
