Now that's something to celebrate.

Chinese New Year is knocking on our doors coming quick and fast just over a fortnight away on 16 February 2018. For those of you yet to book your trip to visit family or regale in the celebrations, take heart because there's still hope for catching a cheap flight up with Cathay Pacific's Chinese New Year sale.

Launched this afternoon at 4pm, it features fares as low as $599 return to destinations such as China, Japan, India and more.

The starter fare of $599 return is for Perth to Beijing journeys. Other featured fares include Adelaide to Shanghai from $604 and Sydney to Beijing from $638.

Despite being a Chinese New Year sale, travel is available from 1 February through to 30 November 2018. No doubt, those peak Chinese New Year dates will fly off the shelves so you'll need to be in quick to snatch them up to catch the cities dressed in lights and festivities at a bargain price.

Both economy and premium economy seats are on sale but only until midnight 16 February.

You can search for and book flights now through the official Cathay Pacific site here.

How good are these flights?

Chinese New Year is arguably one of the busiest and most expensive times of the year to travel to Asia, so catching full-service flights on a 5-star airline under $600 return is practically unheard of, especially this late in the game.

If that wasn't enough to sell you, they even come up slightly cheaper than last year's sale, which featured fares from $643 return for similar routes.

For bargain hunters who are still feeling the pinch, AirAsia has just released a short 48-hour sale on flights throughout Asia during Chinese New Year with fares from $358 return. However, these don't include checked luggage which you may want to add especially if you're visiting family and bringing presents in tow.

They also don't include in-flight meals or entertainment, which in the end could wind up costing you more than these Cathay flights, depending on if you need/want them.
