Flights for under $1,000 to the USA is nothing new. Over the last year we've seen fares from Australia to Los Angeles drop to as low as $751 return and to San Francisco go down to $897 return. Even Jetstar got in on the action boasting fares to Hawaii from $379 return.

While today's fares aren't quite what Jetstar was offering, they're still exceptional for the North American state. The best bit? Los Angeles wins the award for the cheapest destination to fly to on the mainland.
