Low-cost carrier AirAsia has released promotional codes for discounted airfares, flying from destinations in Australia to China and Japan.

Pick up a cheap return airfare from Melbourne to Shanghai for just $437 or travel Sydney to Beijing for only $479 return.

Flights to Osaka from either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth all start at $483 return. The sale prices are for a single seat with no checked baggage.

The fares are available for travel on select dates between August 2016 and May 2017.

AirAsia is one of the world's leading budget carriers and the largest airline in Malaysia in terms of fleet size and destinations.

When it comes to sales and promotions, budget airlines have been on a tear this year. We've seen several from AirAsia and Jetstar but Tigerair's $15 seats are the cheapest we've noticed.
