Departing from all over the nation on China Eastern Airlines.

Sorry, this sale is no longer running. Check our list of current flight sales to find a bargain!

Head's up travellers, we've found possibly the cheapest flights to Rome at the moment. They take off with China Southern Airlines and start at just $796 return when flying out of Perth.

Flights to the Italian capital take off between October and February, depending on your route, though there is a bit of a catch – all discount fares involve two stopovers.

These are in Guangzhou and Wuhan and while that may sound like a bit of an effort, the longer stopovers of 5+ hours are quite well timed. They are either during the day, so you can use your 48-hour transit visa to get out and see the city, or in the evening, so you can enjoy an overnight sleep before continuing your journey the next day.

You can see a breakdown of your transit times here to get an idea of what you're looking at:

Discounted fares are also available from other Australian cities, with a total of six cities priced under $1,000 return. Full details are on the Skyscanner website or you can check out the list below.

PS, we've also included some other flight options into Italy on other airlines because, well, the price was right.

All fares are subject to availability and are on sale until sold out.
