Exactly why you need Fitbit’s newest watch, the Fitbit Versa
If you want a watch that does pretty much everything, then we've got a treat for you.
On 14 March Fitbit unveiled the newest watch the brand would be launching, the Fitbit Versa. Described as the modern, intuitive smartwatch for all at an approachable price, it's Fitbit's lightest ever watch with a new design to help you find all your health and fitness information easily.
There are two versions of the Fitbit Versa you can purchase. The standard Fitbit Versa comes in black, peach or grey. Then there is the special edition that comes in charcoal or lavender with a woven band plus the classic black band.
The new watch features a 4+ day battery life and if that's not enough to smile about, it's not only going to track your health and fitness but assist you in everyday life. How? Well, keep scrolling to find out all the fun features available on the newest Fitbit.
Features
Health and Fitness
The Fitbit Versa has all the same fun features as previous watches like heart rate tracking and counting your steps, but all this information is now available on your wrist as well as the app. It features auto-activity and sleep tracking. You'll be able to tell how many hours sleep you've actually had that night and whether it was light, deep, REM or that you were actually awake.
You can track your heart rate with continuous tracking, following trends over time, see real-time heart rate zones and discover your cardio fitness levels.
Personally, one of my favourite features is the swim-proof nature. This isn't the first time a Fitbit has been waterproof but it's water resistant to up to 50 metres, which is pretty damn impressive.
Best of all, it has a built-in coach app which gives you pre-designed workouts for on the go. There are personalised workouts to give you guidance on every move and can adapt based on your feedback. You can also track your workouts with 15+ exercise modes as well as use your phone's GPS to see your real-time pace as well as distance.
Day-to-day
I'm going to start with my favourite feature of the entire watch and I promise you it's going to be one you'll use every day! It's wallet free payments. Yep. A built-in NFC chip allows you to store and use credit cards right from your watch. Don't worry about grabbing your phone or wallet to pay, just simply swipe your watch. If that's not the best thing you've ever heard, you're lying.
Additionally, it has the ability to store and play 300+ songs, and download your own music from the music app Deezer. When you purchase the Fitbit you'll also get a 3 month free trial with Deezer so you can listen to some music you actually want to hear.
You can also receive notifications and quick replies. You can get calendar notifications as well as text notifications from your phone right to your wrist. There will be replying features to come for Android users as well as messaging for apps such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and Slack.
Women's Health
Okay, ladies, listen up. According to Fitbit, 60% of consumers buying smartwatches are men. Fitbit has advertised this watch as one for all and they are not lying. If there was ever a feature to love about a watch as a fellow female, it's this one.
The Fitbit Versa is going to be able to track your menstrual cycle. Yep. You can use the Fitbit app to log your period, record symptoms and track ovulation. It's going to allow you to discover patterns in your cycle as well as symptoms. I don't know about you, but personally, I love that Fitbit has considered women's health in this watch and not just ignored them.
Design
The smartwatch design is visually appealing and comfortable to both men and women. The strap fits at a 45-degree angle, compensating for both small and large wrists.
With the dashboard, you are easily able to swipe using the touch screen to find the information you're after so you don't always need to be checking the app for the information. It keeps a 7-day history of your steps and whenever there is an update, the app will simply tell you and do its magic.
You can purchase the smartwatch in black or rose gold as well as a range of wristband styles that start at $49 up to $139. The bands are 100% stain resistant and come in a range of colours as well as leather, metal links and mesh. The woven bands in lavender and charcoal only come with the special edition version of the Fitbit Versa.
Pricing
The Fitbit is already available for presale. The standard Fitbit Versa retails at $299.95 in the black, peach or grey. Other accessories aren't included in this price. The special edition version, which features in lavender or charcoal, retails for $349.95.
Where to buy
The Fitbit Versa is currently rolling out into stores as we speak. Its soft launch date is 16 April so you will see it popping up online and in stores very soon! So where can you get your hands on one of these bad boys? Well, I'm so glad you asked. They will be stocked at all the main retailers including Rebel Sport, Myer, David Jones and The Good Guys.
