Gaming's weirdest love triangle (Team Ninja, Omega Force and Intelligent Systems) are bringing the biff to the Fire Emblems universe this year. Fire Emblem Warriors takes the universe and lore of Intelligent System's long-running Fire Emblem series and mashes it with Omega Force's history of large-scale Musuo battles.

Nintendo has announced at Gamescom 2017 that Fire Emblem Warriors will release 20 October 2017.

Stripping the Fire Emblem universe of its tactical nuance was a contentious decision, but whether you're for or against it, a new game for our shiny-new Nintendo Switch is always welcome.

There's also the fact that we are getting a fully-fledged Fire Emblem title on the Switch next year (if the gods are kind) and that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will deliver a dose of turn-based strategy come 29 August.
